Parking Space for Coaches
The parking areas for coaches near the Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui East have been in serious shortage for a long time, and is expected to be worsen upon reopening of the Avenue of Stars. In view of the problems, I conducted a site-visit with Hon Frankie Yick, LegCo Member for the Transport Constituency, and senior engineers of the Transport Department. We reached a consensus on the arrangement of parking slots for coaches in the mentioned district and submitted a preliminary programme. In addition, whenever topics regarding land development (especially large-scale cultural and recreational projects) were mentioned in various LegCo Panels, I would always requested the Government properly address the problem of insufficient parking slots by reserving a certain percentage of land for parking for private cars and coaches, so as to alleviate the problem of insufficient parking areas in all districts.
On 26 February 2018, I attended a meeting of Subcommittee on Issues Relating to Shopping Centres, Markets and Carparks in Public Rental Housing Estates and Home Ownership Scheme Estates – prioritized the parking slots in public housing estates for commercial vehicles.
On 26 March 2018, I attended a meeting of Panel on Home Affairs – regarding the number of parking slots for large coaches at the Heritage Conservation and Resource Centre in Tin Shui Wai
Taxi Services
Taxi services are closely related to the tourism industry. I joined the Committee on Taxi Service Quality earlier this year and expressed my views on the introduction of Taxi Driver-Offence Points Systems and devise of taxi service guidelines.
On 27 June 2018, I was invited by the Hong Kong Taxi Council to participate in the launching ceremony of "Taxi Courtesy Campaign 2018" with Government officials and LegCo members to encourage a courteous attitude among taxi drivers when treating their guests
