Concerns about Mainland tour groups affecting daily living of residents in To Kwa Wan District

Recently, many Mainland tour groups would shop, dine, and get on sightseeing cruises in To Kwa Wan District, affecting the traffic, hygiene, and daily living of local residents. I met with different stakeholders in order to brainstorm improvement plans, for instance, to encourage coaches to park in carparks, arrange travel ambassadors to remind passengers of not to obstruct the passageways, and divert some of the tour groups to other areas for meals. We also discussed ways to make good use of the existing facilities at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, etc, hoping that the measures would relieve the impacts and contradictions caused by the Mainland tourist groups on the daily living of residents in the area.

On 24 October, 2016, I met with representatives of the HKTA together with Ms. Tanna Chong, Assistant District Officer (Kowloon City), Hon Starry Lee Wai-king, LegCo Member, and several members of Kowloon City District Council (KCDC).

On 26 June, 2017, I met with Ms Cathy Chu Man-ling, Commissioner for Tourism and Mr. Jeff Bent, Managing Director of Worldwide Cruise Terminals (operator of Kai Tak Cruise Terminal), and a few other representatives with Hon Starry Lee Wai-king, LegCo Member, and two members of KCDC. Discussion was made on ways to better utilize the existing facilities at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal.

On 16 August, 2017, I attended the charter activity of tackling traffic congestion and safety problem of Hung Hom district which was jointly organized by the Kowloon City Police District, KCDC and the HKTA.
