Promote Smart Tourism

In recent years, the Government has actively promoted the application of innovation and information technology. I pointed out at the LegCo Panel meetings that there are still rooms to improve in terms of promoting smart tourism. In particular, both software and hardware serving smart tourism shall be developed to enhance the experience of visitors to Hong Kong. The highlights include:

• Increase the number of free Wifi hotspots in tourist areas and to improve the speed of internet access.
   
• Install modern guided tour facilities in tourist attractions with high tourist flow, such as interactive chatting robots and QR Code, so as to enhance the interest of tourists and provide deeper understanding of the tourist attractions for visitors.
   
• Support the Government in setting up multi-functional smart lampposts at tourist spots, which can benefit both the local citizens and tourists. The smart  ampposts are requested to provide more travel information for the users; co-operate with the commercial sector is also suggested in disseminating messages of travel products to tourists.
